Story 2031b: How to Be Better Friends? [ for 5-9 years ]

Story 2031a: How to Improve Manners? [For 10 years and older]

It was the beginning of the new year, and two friends, Amara from Congo and Babita from Nepal, were talking.

Amara said, "It’s 2025 now. This year, I want to be a better person. Last year, I sometimes copied homework, wasn’t always kind, helped my parents very little, got angry quickly, and didn’t focus on the good in others."

Babita replied, "Oh, Amara, you’re not so bad! I was worse. I didn’t listen to my parents, was jealous of others, procrastinated on my homework, spent too much time on my phone, didn’t help the little ones with their homework, hardly ever attended the SSSSB class, and didn’t reflect on how I could improve my behavior."

They looked at each other and realized they needed to change their behavior. "If we keep acting like this,"Babita said, "people won’t like us, and we won’t set a good example for other students or the younger children."

They decided to ask Guru-practice for help.

Guru-practice welcomed them with a warm smile. "Guruji," they said, "this year, we want to learn better manners and become kind and good students."

Guruji smiled and said, "That’s wonderful! You just need to practice to become better. This small ashram is for everyone: for those who want to improve, for those who want to stay good, and for those who want to help others."

Guru-practice gave them simple advice: "Always think good thoughts, speak kindly, and do good deeds. If you focus on these, you’ll see yourself change." Guru-practice also gave them many examples of what they could do to become exemplary.

Today’s Question: What examples do you think Guru-practice gave Amara and Babita to help them become exemplary?

Story 2031b: How to Be Better Friends? [ for 5-9 years ]

The year 2025 had just begun. Two friends, Kofi from Congo and Ramesh from Nepal,

were having a conversation.

Kofi said, "This year, I want to be a better person. Last year, I copied homework, wasn’t

nice to everyone, didn’t help at home, and got angry quickly."

Ramesh replied, "I was worse. I didn’t always listen to my parents, I talked too loudly

during breaks, which disturbed others, I was lazy with my homework, I didn’t share my

toys with other children, and I often asked my parents for expensive gifts."

Realizing they needed to improve, they decided to visit their teacher, Guruji, for advice.

Guruji welcomed them warmly, and the boys admitted, "Guruji, we want to have better

manners this year. Please help us and tell us what to do. We feel like we are bad

children."

Guruji smiled and said, "You’re good children; you just have a few habits to improve."

Guruji gave them simple advice: "Think good thoughts, say kind words, and do kind

things. If you focus on these, your habits will change naturally."

Guruji provided plenty of examples of what the children could do to improve.

Today’s Question: What examples do you think Guruji gave Kofi and Ramesh to help them improve their manners?

Story 2032a: The Tale of Two Trees [For 10 years and older]

Story 2032b: Aro and Kaya, Two Trees from a Forest [ for 5-9 years ]

Story 2032a: The Tale of Two Trees

Trees from different countries joined the online SSSSB classes for trees and plants. Among them were Aro, a tree from Balkot, Nepal, and Kaya, a tree from Matadi, Congo.

Aro and Kaya dreamed of becoming exemplary trees. They wanted to have many branches and leaves to provide shade for travelers and birds. They also wanted to bear delicious, healthy fruits for everyone to enjoy. But no matter how hard they tried, their growth remained limited: small leaves, few branches, and tiny fruits.

With great determination, they decided to join the SSSSB tree class. During the lesson, they asked:
"Guru Ji, can you help us become exemplary and successful trees?"

The gurus replied:
"We cannot change you. You can only change yourselves, but we can teach you how."

The gurus explained:
"To become exemplary, trees must say, think, and do positive things. Do not be jealous of trees with more fruits, do not gossip about other trees, and do not feel sad if children prefer playing under other trees. Practice light meditation and send light from your heart, where the God of trees resides, to all plants, animals, and people. Positive thoughts, words, and deeds strengthen our roots. This way, we grow better and bear more branches, leaves, and fruits."

Aro, Kaya, and the other trees were inspired. From that moment, they decided to live positively. Soon, they saw the results: they grew, bore more fruits, and became examples for trees in their countries.

Story 2032b: Aro and Kaya, Two Trees from a Forest [For ages 5-9]

Aro and Kaya were two trees in a big forest. They wanted to become good trees with many branches, leaves, and delicious fruits. But no matter how hard they tried, their branches and leaves didn’t grow well.

One day, they asked a wise guru:
“How can we grow and become good trees?”

The guru said:
“Think, speak, and do good things. Don’t be jealous of other trees. Be kind to everyone and send love from your heart to birds, animals, and people. Then your roots will grow strong, and you will get more branches, leaves, and fruits!”

Aro and Kaya listened and did what the guru said. Soon, they grew big and strong and gave delicious fruits. They became an example for all the trees in the forest.

The lesson: If you think, speak, and do good things, you can also become an example, just like Aro and Kaya!

Story 2036a: Think, Say, See, and Do Positive Things [for ages 10 and older]

In a quiet village in Congo, the two 12-year-old girls, Mirembe from Congo and Nita from Nepal, met each other during a cultural exchange.

One day, they sat together and talked about one of the things they had learned in their Ssssb classes: the importance of thinking, hearing, seeing, and doing positive things. Mirembe said, "My Ssssb guru taught me that negative thoughts only bring sadness and setbacks."

Nita nodded and said, "My Ssssb guru also told us the same. And I’ve experienced it myself. I used to focus on the negative things of classmates and gossip about them with my best friends. But one day my classmates heard that I had gossiped about them and were very disappointed in me. I was ashamed and felt bad. From that day, I understood what our Ssssb guru taught us. Now I only see the good in others, and I feel much better than before, everyone respects me."

Mirembe said, "I had exactly the same experience and changed immediately. Since that day, I concentrate much better, perform better in studies, and have more self-confidence. And I get so much love and respect from everyone; life has become much more enjoyable and better."

Nita said, "I now remember that I once went to guru practice for advice, and the guru practice said about this topic: 'We must do two things:
1) Always see the positive in others.
2) We must look at ourselves and if there are negative things that can be improved, we must continue to improve them. Because through this, we feel stronger connections with God.'"

Mirembe said, "Oh really, I’m hearing the second teaching of guru practice about improving the negative in ourselves for the first time. Thank you, Nita, for telling me. Shall we try our best from today?"
Nita: "Yes, Mirembe, let’s do that."
Mirembe: "Can I ask you something, Nita?"
Nita: "Sure, ask."
Mirembe: "My eyes have never seen Bhagwan Baba, but Bhagwan Baba comes to your Sssvm school and you see Swami in the Ashram. Can you please ask Bhagwan Baba to bless all the children of my country, Congo?"

Nita: "Yes, I’ll do that. I’ll also write it down and give the text to Swami. I’ll also pray for all the Congo children. And I’ll ask Swami for the chance to do so."

Story 2036b: Always Think and Do Good [for 5-9 years]

In a quiet village in Congo, there were two 8-year-old girls, Lila from Africa and Babita from Nepal. They met each other during a special exchange and quickly became good friends.

One day, they sat together under a large tree in the village and talked about what they had learned from their wise teachers. Lila said, "My teacher always said: 'If you think and do good, you will become happy and exemplary.'"

Babita nodded and said, "Yes, my teacher also told us that if we always see the good in others, we feel better about ourselves. I used to think negatively, but since I learned to always focus on the positive, I feel much happier!"

Lila smiled and said, "I think we can do so much together if we stay positive! We can help everyone, and everyone will love us."

They decided to make a promise together: "We will always think positively, hear good things, and help others. And when something is difficult, we will ask Bhagwan Baba for help and do our best."

Lila and Babita knew that thinking positively would help them stay happy and exemplary, and that with their kindness, they could make the world better.

Question of the day: Give examples of thinking, hearing, seeing, and doing good.

Story 2036cw01: Think, Say, See, and Do Positive Things – For Women

In a quiet village in Congo, two women, Mireille from Congo and Anjali from Nepal, met each other during a cultural exchange program for women. They quickly formed a close bond and shared the life lessons they had learned from their teachers.

One afternoon, while sitting together by a river, they discussed the importance of positive thinking, hearing, seeing, and doing. Mireille shared, "My Ssssb Guru always told me, 'Negative thoughts only bring sadness and setbacks. You lose your inner peace and happiness.'"

Anjali nodded and said, "I have experienced this as well. In my past, I often focused on the faults of others and gossiped about them with my good friends. But one day, my friends overheard me gossiping, and they were hurt. I felt ashamed and realized how wrong I had been. From that moment, I decided to focus only on the good in others. I now see the positive in people, and it has made me feel so much better, more confident, and loved."

Mireille smiled and said, "I had exactly the same experience. I also gossiped about the negative things of others. But now I pay more attention to my thoughts, words, and actions. I can now concentrate better, feel more confident, and the respect I receive from others has grown. Life has become so much more joyful and fulfilling."

Anjali replied, "I remember that I once went to Guru practice for advice, and she said about this topic:
1) 'We must always see the best in others.
2) We must look at ourselves. If we see negative traits in ourselves that can be improved, we must keep trying to improve them. This is how we feel God's presence more strongly.'"

Mireille said, "This is the first time I'm hearing this second teaching about improving ourselves. Thank you, Anjali, for sharing this with me. Shall we start working on this together from now on?"

Anjali smiled and said, "Yes, Mireille, let’s make this promise to ourselves."

Mireille paused and asked, "Can I ask you something, Anjali?"

Anjali replied, "Of course, Mireille, ask away."

Mireille continued, "My eyes have never seen Bhagwan Baba, but I know that you see Swami in the Ashram. Can you please ask Bhagwan Baba to bless all the people, animals, and plants in my country, Congo?"

Anjali replied, "Yes, Mireille, I will definitely do that. I will write it down and give it to Swami in the Ashram. I will also pray for the people and children of Congo, and I will personally ask Swami for this blessing whenever I get the chance."
